HOW LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT EFFECT ON HUMAN RESOURSE MANAGEMENT

Introduction

Developing successful leadership in organizations is not a new concept, but it is one that is becoming increasingly important. While more and more research reveals that leadership drives organizational performance, health, and effectiveness, establishing strong leadership has never been straightforward, as many previous failures have demonstrated. However, organizations are beginning to recognize that the present fast-paced world places greater, and sometimes unanticipated, expectations on its leaders, and as a result, they want leaders who can execute under these very trying situations. Those who do not respond to these problems risk having their organizations collapse in the long run (Abbass &Yaqoob 2009).

Leadership is an important idea in many parts of society, including business, academia, family, community, religion, and politics at the national and international levels. It is claimed to be a significant determinant of a group's, corporate organizations, and even the entire country's prosperity, and so is the most important element in society since it is viewed as the daily existence on which every organization depends for efficient performance. Leadership is critical in any organization's Human Resources Management practices.

The ultimate purpose of the Human Resources function is to assist the organization in achieving its objectives by attracting the greatest people and inspiring them to work to the best of their abilities. To accomplish this purpose, HR must first prioritize leadership development. This emphasis on establishing effective and dynamic leadership gives HR the potential to evolve from being merely administrative and functional departments to proactive business partners that truly make a difference within enterprises ( Basit, Sebastian, & Hassan, 2018).

Ways of HRM Deal with Leadership Development

  • ·         Implementing Leadership Development Training Programs
  • ·        Creating A Culture Of Opportunities - HR can lead in creating a culture that makes people want to move on up through an organization.
  • ·        Pursuing Creative Recruitment - As an organization grows and circumstances modify its business objectives, it may be necessary to recruit leaders from outside.
  • ·       Developing Leaders In HR- To be at the forefront of promoting and enabling effective leadership, HR staff need to develop their own leadership skills.
  • ·      Empowering Others - Empowering others through effective leadership is a way of reducing the need for hands-on leadership and micromanagement and making leadership more effective by allowing HR leaders to concentrate on broader initiatives that will benefit the organization overall
  • ·    Providing Moral Leadership - HR is typically both in the fray and above it. How HR leaders project themselves and the leadership style they adopt are critical to the way they’re regarded by the rest of the organization.

Conclusion

Throughout generations, HR leaders have been skillfully establishing and executing HR and people strategies that correspond with business objectives. However, the year 2020 marked the beginning of a new decade in which firms must produce and nurture a new sort of HR leader. Organizations require professionals who can lead and manage the future of work while navigating its disruptive nature.
